Xizhi District, New Taipei City｜Shi Yang

This is my second visit of Shi Yang. I was very impressed by the food and the atmosphere in my first visit almost four years ago. I am still liking my second experience. But I wish the server can spend more time to tell the story of what we are eating which can deepen our appreciation of the dishes and bring out more flavor. She is good but very busy servicing multiple tables. The last dish, a soup of lotus root is so good and flavorful, we suspect they used chicken or pork ribs broth as a base. It turns out they didn’t use any animal base ingredient in that soup; it is a story that we didn’t realize till we asked the server. I think to blend some education with a bit mor of story telling will really enhance the vision and the mission of the brand. With that said, I will definitely come back again in the future when I feel that I need to enjoy a light and healthy meal with flavor close to the natural ingredients.

An awesome experience dining in a Japanese kominka fit for a samurai being served a 7 course dinner of intricately and flavorful minimal dishes. The atmosphere is tranquil as it is surrounded by forests and the background music of soft murmuring chants invokes peaceful empathy. A perfect setting for a meaningful occasion, perhaps best for a romantic one.

A material friendly fine dining, they served veggie set as well but need to inform them when u make reservation. The environment and whole dining experience was remarkable.
