More Comments at Google Map“Akame” (meaning “roasting” or “grill” in the indigenous Rukai dialect), it’s one of the most extraordinary dining experiences you will find in Southern Taiwan. Chef/owner Alex and many of the key staffs (lovely wife and her sister) are native to the Kucapungane village. Not only are they hospitable, but they are keen on finding and choosing the quality ingredients for their menu! We were blown away from the selection of meats and seafood that they were able to find/source locally, and cooked beautifully, and then they impressed us with very warm, welcoming and very attentive services, they are also able to give good advices on wine pairing. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, there are seats along side the open kitchen/bar, a private dining room (PDR) and a few more seats to fill the space. It’s almost impossible to get seats, unless you make reservations in advance. We highly recommend friends to spend a night in the village, indulge a wonderful dinner at Akame, and then check out the Aboriginal Cultural Center nearby (or hang out with some locals), to fully and truly experience “Authentic Southern Taiwan” ❤️
This fusion restaurant has been established since 2015 (saw it from the mirror), this place was introduced to me last 3 years but I am not able to make the reservation. Advanced booking is preferable for this place. Today dinner was booked the table last two months. It’s worth to come and grab a great dinner. It’s a la carte menu and each dishes they served with explaining origin of the food. So, I enjoyed those foods including the atmosphere. One dish (appetizer one) I would recommend is smoked black organic chicken above the Olong tea leaves. For the main dish, I ordered the grilled Taitung fish smeared with hill tribe herbs.
Hidden in the mountain of Pingdong Taiwan The chefs are well experienced with several famous bistros and finally got back home for their native town Hard to imagine there's such delicate high end grill restaurant in such country side of south Taiwan. Menu differs everyday, planned by chef according to the very fresh materials Grilled bbq food is superb! Every dish are delicious, I like the pork-type, and fresh seafood fish Their signature dessert is the cinnamon sticks, It's on pricey side, but definitely worth the money, Not taking any drop in guests, and it's Super difficult to make reservation; usually takes a month or so in advance; Service is superb, they also provide some combination of wine; A must go restaurant, it's very far, but you will find it worth the journey
