Delicious hainanese chicken rice. A quick stop refreshed our energy. Located not too far away from the university, it's a nice hole in the wall place for a decent price.

The chicken with beef or chicken with alcohol infused sausage is really unique in Tainan. I chanced upon this place several years ago and have been a visitor ever since. There isn’t an English menu and ordering food can be problematic if you don’t speak Chinese. The decor etc is rather bizarre, but ultimately the food is good and that’s all I genuinely consider when dining out in Tainan City. The wider menu doesn’t appeal to me at all, and the dim sum options are incredibly limited and the quality is low. Alas, the reason for the 5* rating is the aforementioned chicken and rice dishes in the hot pan. The chicken is tender and succulent, the rice has a chewy texture and a delightfully charred taste from being burned against the hot pan. If you haven’t tried these dishes, I do recommend giving this place a try (you’ll need to bring along a Chinese speaker).
