East District, Chiayi City｜SMARTFISH

We ended up coming here as a family trip to Chiayi. Have wanted to try it for a while since seeing the Netflix special a while back. We got here a bit early but we’re first in line so we had no wait for food. Really really good food! One of the most rich and flavorful soups I have ever eaten. The store will refill your soup as well! I ate so much I wanted to take a nap. One of the only “famous” places I have gone to that did not disappoint in any way. Great atmosphere and the food was next level! We had the fish head soup, with sides of pork rice, turkey rice, smoked shark, baby corn, bitter melon and two different bamboo shoot dishes. 10/10 would highly recommend you try, even if you have to wait!

A famous delicious local food. It's quite special as you don't have 砂鍋魚頭（Fish Head Casserole）in a lot of places. Definitely deserves a try. Don't be scared by yhe long quotes and packed shop. They handle the food in very efficient way

I don't know if there are better ones out there but I would say hands down this is the best Fish Head Soup out there in the world (Taiwan is not enough). This is a must go place in Taiwan (though it's in Chiayi). The fish head tasted so good. The soup has a combination of tons of ingredients and it was just simply exquisite. Combination of exquisite soup and wonderful fish head, it's just the best mixture of both worlds and I just can't see who would dislike it. I rate this dish 💯
