More Comments at Google MapChinese Restaurant: Summary - Traditional, authentic Chinese and Taiwanese dishes coupled with great views of Sun Moon Lake. The Pros: Located inside the Lalu Hotel, they offer very well prepared dishes all around. The Dong Po Pork and Pumpkin Rice Noodles are especially recommended. Service is prompt and the view of the lake is breathtaking (especially if you are in one of the private rooms). The Cons: You definitely, handsomely pay for the view and the food.
If you are looking to have a nice meal with a spectacular view this is a great choice. The restaurant is located in the lower floor of the Lalu hotel, which sits on top of a hill overlooking the Sun Moon Lake. The backdrop of the lake and the mountains is really breathtaking and the vantage point from the hotel is one of the best. The food showcases Chinese food from various regions as well as highlighting some local ingredients. Food here is excellent and is a good value for the quality. The hotel does have a minimum charge per person of 1000 NTD and there is 10% service charge. Food: 4.25 stars Environment: 4.5 stars Value: 4.25 stars Overall: 4.25 stars Recommendations: Dongpo pork, Alishan bamboo shoots, steak fried rice, cashew nut pastry The dongpo pork is the house specialty. The braised fatty pork belly is paired with sesame buns. This dish is really decadent and the pork is melt in your mouth tender. This is a must order if you come here. The bamboo shoots and cashew nut pastry we’re also really fantastic. The cashew nut pastry was my favorite of the meal. The playfulness of the dish combined with the delicate savory pastry will be what I remember most of the meal. The only dish I didn’t particularly like was the three treasure stir fried vegetables and would suggest ordering something else.
When you see a restaurant with NOTHING but 5* reviews, you visit! WOW, now I know WHY. I am the most carnivorous of men, but it was the flavour of the MUSHROOM soup that really sticks with me, but it was all great. NB. Some parts of the menu, eg. fish, are "per X grams". Clearly marked, but can make a pricey element for the careless!
