Wanhua District, Taipei City｜辜醉雞雞肉飯

Out of the way from the touristy parts of Wanhua but worth the effort to go. We had only the drunken chicken (醉鸡) and it was so good. You can taste the liquor on the meat, sweet and strong. The array of vegetables provide the savory taste. The owner is a nice old man, too, and it seems to be a family-run business. It felt like a home-cooked meal.

Had the Ginger Chicken 薑蔥油雞飯 and my wife had the Drunk Chicken 紹興醉雞飯. You won't be disappointed with this place. Although seating is only outdoors, there is a fan available. Not the most comfortable place during the summer, but at least it's under shade. The chicken was superb. Tender and juicy. Plenty of scallions and shredded ginger in my order. The sides, rice, and soup were also good. A great place for chicken if you're in Wanhua.
