Zhongzheng District, Taipei City｜Saboten Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Station

Located on the 12th floor of the Shin Mitsukoshi department store, this is one of several branches of this Japanese chain in Taipei. Despite being a chain, I love this place. Perfectly cooked pork and chicken cutlets with mouthwatering sauces, eat-as-much-as-you-can salad, pickles, rice and miso soup. Service is always very good and attentive. English-language level of course depends on your server. It's definitely not the cheapest place for such food in Taipei, but you know what you're getting here.

Classic Japanese comfort food, and saboten does it great! The fried pork loin was surprisingly lean with an extremely crispy coating of breadcrumbs. We loved the curry too; it went great with the Taiwanese rice (a little harder than its Japanese counterpart) and wasn't too spicy!
