More Comments at Google MapTaiwan's hidden gem, a splendour and wonder of Formosa's culinary and heritage! It's been a few days since coming back to Japan, and still I'm thinking about the mouthwatering dishes that reminds me of home (disclaimer: I'm Taiwanese). Round tables, banters and chatters with family and friends, over 東坡肉 (dong po rou) - that juicy, tender pork belly marinated with soy sauce, rice cooking wine, and more; a cleansed palate rinsed with hot brewed tea to indulge what's next to come. (I saw a cask of Taiwanese beer being delivered while lunching, so you can cleanse with the same if you wish.) But there's more. General Tso's chicken, dried-fried string beans with stir-fried, crispy minced pork no doubt, a whole steamed cod fish, and hot crispy rolled buns with a dip of condesened milk (optional, really - the buns itself were delicious enough to have it by itself). And last but not least: a crab meat made and plated entirely of egg white! There's a history to this dish by the way, as the kind owner so delicately explained. If I heard correctly, crab was a luxury back then, but the ingeniuous of chefs back when made a dish fine and so that it tasted the same. There's an egg yolk rested on top to remind you what it actually is made of, I think, but more so it adds to a splendid taste! I'm doing this dish (and all the others) a disservice - better to ask her to explain, and she will ever so vividly to take you back to their roots. For this is a family-run restaurant, one with warmth and pride of their delicately crafted works of how tasteful Taiwanese, and food, can be. That aproned man dancing with the wok behind the glass to the kitchen - he's a husband, father, and chef proud of his art. I'll be back again the next time I'm in Taiwan.
An already delicious Chinese restaurant mixed with contemporary mindset, delicate tastes crafted from exquisite Seasonings, thoughtful plating decorated with vibrant colors from the freshness of the ingredients which just make the dish even more appetizing. Friendly staff with professional service, comfortable and quiet seating area. This restaurant have all the boxes ticked in my opinion. Last and not the least, this place is close to public transport, food and services are reasonably priced, a good value for money restaurant suitable for family reunion or friends catch up event. Absolutely love their thinly sliced fish soup with century egg, weird but delicious! A must try. Some additional information - 10% Service charge - Accepts credit card
My favorite hidden gem. In my opinion, best mapo tofu hands down. Scary part is that mapo tofu might not even be their best dish. The fish dish (need to preorder) is to die for. Fish soup is also an excellent last dish to finish the meal. All the photos are dishes I strongly recommend. Make sure you get a party of 8-10 in order to try them all. Btw, there’s a small parking lot literally across the street (and it’s an alley) so that’s not an issue (or take the MRT). Enjoy!
