Wenshan District, Taipei City｜218 Boneless Fried Chicken

Very popular among the locals. I was told phone orders only until 7:05 pm bc of how busy it gets during dinner. I ordered their signature Golden Fried Chicken Steak and the Boneless Salty Chicken Chunks (which is more popularly known in America as Popcorn Chicken). Firstly, I was surprised how clean the food was. Last time I had similar food was in Hualien and it was greasy. It means they did a good job in oil drainage and the food is much healthier compare to more greasy places. The chicken chunks were barely salted. Again, that is good if you want to eat healthier. I notice most of the saltiness came from the greens that came with the chicken. It was excellently fried though. The Golden Fried Chicken Steak was much better flavored and I ate it with homemade rice and greens at home. Like the chicken chunks, it was not greasy at all and fried to perfection. The price is extremely affordable. I was a bit surprised it was cheaper than in Hualien since this is Taipei. And a bonus for their cute little deck waiting area. It has a single large table there I suppose for those who wish to eat there. It looks new, very clean and stylish, comfortable place to sit and soak up the local environment while you wait. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.

My all time favorite Taiwanese pop corn chicken place, it started with a truck in 1999, so yes, my family had been having this for about 20 yrs. It’s less greasy and salty compared to others. Better make a phone order or you’ll have a long wait.
