Great highballs and cocktails in a vintage-y Japanese environment. Very creative drinks menu with something for just about everyone. The food was great too! We saw someone order the Lu Rou Fan and it came with giant pieces of pork belly. A pity we've already ordered other things and didn't have the capacity for it. It looked really tasty. The bartender Jackie was amiable and gave us excellent service. A very friendly fellow who was the cherry on top of our already pleasant visit. Be sure to make a reservation though, this place gets full quite fast, and you might have to wait quite long to be seated!

Traditional Taiwanese food with a modern Japanese twist. Hi Bo Ru offers very delicious Taiwanese food with a dash of flair, but never feels pretentious. The theme is very much inspired by an era when Taiwan was transitioning from Japanese to Chinese rule. The drink selection isn't great. The cocktails are take it or leave it, but none of that matters, because you can order a quadruple size Hiball (whiskey+soda) for the price of a triple. I will only ever be drinking that on subsequent trips. Omg, whatever you do, get the fried beef dumplings.
