Stepping into this tucked-away izakaya, one is instantly transported to the golden age of Japanese cultural influence in Taiwan, as the lively atmosphere and nostalgic tunes set the stage for a culinary journey like no other. The unassuming exterior belies the gastronomic delights that await within, and patrons will soon find themselves enveloped by the warmth of the vibrant and bustling dining room. It is truly a hidden gem, waiting to be discovered by those in search of a unique and satisfying dining experience in the heart of Taipei. The menu is a veritable treasure trove of innovative and delectable dishes, each one thoughtfully conceived and skillfully executed to perfection. The standout dishes, such as the creamy squid, tender beef short ribs, mentaiko egg rolls, and okonomiyaki, showcase the chef's mastery of Japanese cuisine and his commitment to creating memorable flavors. Paired with an impressive beer selection, and bolstered by frequent promotions, this izakaya offers diners an enticing array of options for a leisurely meal with friends or family. While the food is undeniably the star of the show, the service is occasionally marred by the overworked staff, who may struggle to keep up with the demands of the busy dining room. This small hiccup, however, does little to detract from the overall experience, and the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff ultimately shines through. The only other downside to this exceptional eatery is the slightly steep prices, which may deter some potential diners from indulging in the full range of offerings. In a nutshell, this hidden izakaya is an absolute must-visit for lovers of Japanese cuisine and those seeking a lively and engaging dining experience. The innovative dishes, coupled with the vibrant atmosphere and commendable beer selection, make it the ideal spot for introducing friends to the joys of Japanese fare. Despite the occasional service hiccups and slightly steep prices, the overall impression is overwhelmingly positive, and it's only a matter of time before this hidden gem gains the recognition it so richly deserves.
Very nice flavors, worth the wait. Chefs took their time to cook up quality foods and flavors. Serving sizes are good for portion control. Loved the chicken cartilage! Good for the knees. The Hiroshima Okonomiyaki is a MUST have with added cheese. Received a round of free drinks bc they made a mistake in giving our order to another table and we waited a few more minutes for our Okonomiyaki. That’s a restaurant w/ high integrity!
