Wanhua District, Taipei City｜Monga Curry

One of the best meals we’ve had in Taipei in a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. We had the chicken curry and the vegetable curry (it was such a relief to see a vegetarian option on the menu!). The vegetables in the curry were crunchy and we had a generous serve of sauce. I wouldn’t say the curry was super spicy, it was more like a wonderful warmth spread through your body with each spoonful! It was delicious, filling and tourist friendly. They lovely owner spoke English and the menu also had English translation. We were really lucky as didn’t have to wait for a table but with only a handful of spots available you should be prepared to potentially wait. Highly recommend.

My friend and I stopped by around 12 PM on a Wednesday. The restaurant was small but not too crowded. Everything in the store was clean and the decorations were very cute. We ordered two curries and an order of shrimp tempura for takeout. I got the fish curry. The fish was well fried. The curry itself had a thicker stronger flavor which went very well with the fried fish and also shrimp tempura I got. The curry was also topped with a few veggies and shallots/green onions. I also tried some of my friends beef curry and I would highly recommend that one. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Even though it mostly seemed to just be the owner cooking and dealing with everything he was very friendly and efficient. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food even though he was juggling all of the dine in and delivery orders. All in all, a great restaurant to make a stop in.
