More Comments at Google MapFinally got to this store while they’re open: a tiny no-frills corner joint, where they bake their biscuits in a stove outdoors. The menu is expansive (much like other joints), and food portions are ample for the affordable price. You’ll know where it is by seeing the line-up on the sidewalk: if there’s no line, it’s probably because they sold out of their popular items. I showed up at 11:00, before their 11:30 closing, but they were already out of 燒餅. I ordered 肉餅 (meat-filled pancake), 豆漿半糖 (hot soy milk with half sugar), 油條 (fried donut stick). The 肉餅 (meat-filled pancake), looks small, but is filling, and its meat is flavourful while the biscuit exterior is crispy and not oily. The 豆漿(soy milk) was interesting: very slightly “thicker” than your typical soy milk place in that the flavours are more intense; very good and I’d come back just for this. The 油條 (fried donut) had been sitting around for a while and thus a bit oily but salted just right. Because they no longer serve dine-in, the soy milk was served in a disposable cup, sealed, so I couldn’t do the classic donut-dipping method and enjoy them together.
Great tasting food. Must try meat buns, leek buns and toasted sesame flat bread with dough fritters. Their buns and flatbread is perfectly toasted. Watch the guys concentrate on toasting manually by hand! Unlike Yong He, this soybean milk has burnt taste...a taste variant. The salty soybean milk is meh. Very tasty...will come back again.
The soy milk has a strong burnt aroma. Few breakfast shops sell this kind of soy milk. It is delicious; the skin of the leek box and meatloaf is tanned with old noodles, and baked with traditional direct fire. After baking, the skin is Q-bomby and crispy. The meat patties are filled with fresh and sweet meat, and the gravy will flow out when you bite off the skin; the leeks, dried tofu and rice noodles in the leek box are a perfect match; the sesame seed cakes with eggs are not comparable to Fuhang soybean milk, but they are delicious in traditional breakfast shops.
