Da’an District, Taipei City｜椿Tsubaki

A friend of mine invited to this restaurant for dinner. It’s a small izakaya style restaurant that serves both food and drinks. We ordered sashimi set, cheese carb balls, stir fried bitter gourd with eggs and pork, clams soup, fried mackerel 🐟, fried oyster 🦪 , and a sake 🍶 . Sashimi was fresh and all the other seafoods were clean. The menu was English and it made my life easier. Unfortunately, their today’s special menu was not in English. I had to get help from my Taiwanese friend to translate it. I recommend their crab croquette, fried mackerel and stir fried bitter gourd. We simply loved it. Overall this place is good for meeting small group of friends. Or after a long day, you wanna grab some highball.👌🏻👍🏻💯

If there was one place to recommend in Taipeh, I would choose Tsubaki! The food is magnificent, one of my favorites was the exquisite Fried Cheese Crab Bonbons which melted in your mouth - but everything else I tried was just amazing! Come early (they open at 5.30 pm), sit at the bar and watch the culinary miracles develop in front of your eyes. Have a chat with the wonderful chefs Jeff and Allen and their lovely colleague ChianChian and learn about Taiwanese cuisine. You will immediately feel at home and I can promise you that this will not be the last time you will eat here!

I was able to sample quite a bit of the menu as part of a large group, and overall, the dishes were very solid and flavorful. I enjoyed the intimate atmosphere, great for conversations.
