Tucheng District, New Taipei City｜小菊越南小吃+雜貨店

I was in the area to meet someone and found this Vietnamese restaurant, located about a 5 minute walk from Tucheng MRT. This place is probably the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve had in over a year since I moved to Taiwan. The chicken pho is fresh & so delicious, that I ended up ordering 2 more to go because I live so far. The egg rolls are crisp and well made. Overall, the restaurant is clean and the cook puts in effort to prepare the dishes. She doesn’t skimp out on ingredients, which I’ve noticed many other Vietnamese restaurants will do in Taipei. Overall, I’d repeatedly come again if only I lived nearby.

Rice noodles are delicious

The dining environment is very clean, and there are about four or five tables available for internal use. Affordable prices and large portions This time I ordered beef hor fun, which should be the size of a large bowl of beef noodles eaten outside, but it only costs 100 yuan. There should be at least six or seven slices of meat, but it may be a little overcooked, not very soft and tender, but it's okay~ The rice noodles itself is a flat and thin type, and it tastes less chewy. The soup is sweet and delicious. There are quite a lot of ingredients inside, basically chopped green onions, leafy vegetables, bean sprouts, and onions. Girls will feel a little overwhelmed with a bowl by themselves. A slice of lemon and pepper will be added at your own discretion. I use half of the original flavor, and squeeze the remaining half into the lemon to taste different flavors~ The chili is also added in stages, after adding it, it will be really spicy after a while! The other dish is pork rice with shrimp paste. The taste of the sauce is not as salty and greasy as most braised pork rice. This shrimp paste has a unique aroma and taste, and the overall rice is refreshing and not greasy. It is delicious . And it will come with a bowl of clear soup, which should taste like the soup base of hor fun. Overall, it is very cost-effective to eat and drink the soup of hor fun, which is amazing~ Each table will also be served with different Vietnamese (Southeast Asian?) sauces. My table is spicy soy sauce, which is not dead salty and has a different aroma. It is a taste that Taiwan must accept very highly ~ not too spicy, It’s okay to add a drop of rice noodles😂 There are also a lot of products from Vietnam on sale in the store, and there are also price tags on them. If you like it, you can go to have a meal on the spot and buy it~
