Shilin District, Taipei City｜Tianmu Oyster Noodles

Small shop, yet surprisingly good traditional taiwanese food. Their menu is simple, only two items； literal translation will be glutinous rice intestine, and oyster/intestine noodles. Their glutinous rice intestine is made of cleaned and real intestine wrapped around the glutinous rice. This is what the original glutinous rice intestine should be. It's actually quite delicious if one dares to try it. It's harder nowadays to find a glutinous rice intestine that is wrapped with real intestine, since most are wrapped in artificial wrappings. The taste of their oyster/intestine noodle are more in line with flavor from southern Taiwan. This is one of the foods that shares a common name but the taste actually differs subtly due to different regional propensity. Normally, they serve the noodles with a mix of intestine and oyster, but you can also ask for only one of it； either oyster noodle or intestine noodle. Sometimes the intestine may be too chewy for elders who can no longer chew well. A touch of their home made chili sauce adds a different layer to the original flavor. I was actually surprised that they didn't raise their price due to the inflation over the last two years. Definitely a good one that is worth a try.
