Datong District, Taipei City｜Jim & Dad's Taipei

In a country where lager beer reigns, it's great to see more local breweries creating vastly improved alternatives. This taproom was recommended by a tour guide, knowing I'm from Oregon, the Capital of Microbreweries. I enjoyed a Kumquat Pale Ale (hoppy, but with a sweet aftertaste) and a Dark Ale (strong toasted hazelnut flavor), while everyone else in my group was shopping. Mine was a much better use of time and money. These were solid brews. Friendly, attentive bartender, too. Micro Beers deserve Taiwanese attention. Move away from that rice-based, soulless lager, as I did from Budweiser decades ago.

Visited during Christmas 2022, loved their signature strong ales, especially the Bourbon BA Imperial Porter and the DIPA. Toc class! Friendly staff as well.

Jim and dads has some great homebrews incorporating local Taiwan flavors with good balance. The lemon green tea ale and the coffee amber are great! The summer mosaic was good, but on the more bitter side. The passion fruit ipa was tart.
