Shilin District, Taipei City｜Fumo

Amazing food and excellent service! I first dined in Fumo in January of 2022, and when I was back in Taiwan in March of this year, I went again, twice in two weeks! The food was that wonderful! The dish that impressed me the most was Piccione: stuffed pigeon ravioli with truffle flakes. The taste was exquisite and very flavorful - for this one dish, they deserve a Michelin recognition! For appetizer, we ordered piovra (grilled octopus), i ripieni (foie gras-stuffed gnocchi), and capesante (grilled scallops with shaved black truffle). Each was unique and savory, but the presentation of i ripieni was the most impressive: the dish arrived with smoke inside and covered with a dome. Once the dome was lifted and the smoke dissipated, the gnocchis came to view. For main dishes, we had the piccione, bianco rosso (spaghetti in crab sauce with grilled calamari), pesce azzurro (grilled fish with veggies), and rump cap grain-fed beef. Each dish was beautifully presented, but most importantly, they were delicious! The fish and beef melted in your mouth, the ravioli was chewy and savory, and the spaghetti was cooked al dente, covered with a delightful crab sauce. We enjoyed the milefoglie for dessert. It’s a puff pastry filled with light custard filling. Their tiramisú is outstanding as well! The service was excellent: the staff were friendly and attentive, filling our water promptly and retrieving the dishes when empty. Fumo has an extensive wine list. Matteo, the co-owner, is knowledgeable and is happy to recommend. Overall, we had a wonderful culinary experience and highly recommend this restaurant! I plan to go back again next time I'm in town visiting my mom and brother. Lucky me they live near Fumo!
