Wanhua District, Taipei City｜Tripod King (Ding Wang Mala)

Came here upon recommendation by a friend. I normally don't eat mala hotpot as i don't like 'ma' and don't like 'la', but the soup here is neither 'ma' or 'la', and yet still tastes superb! They put duck blood inside the soup and it tastes like tofu although there's also tofu inside the soup. Also had the sour white cabbage soup and tastes great as well. The dipping sauce for the meat (vinegar like sauce for the mala pot and tartar like sauce for the cabbage pot) looks simple but complements the soup base really well. Came here as a tourist from Malaysia and I'd say this beats all the hotpot restaurants I've tried in Malaysia.

My no.1 Mala hotpot restaurant! Normally, I don’t like the taste of Mala but this shop is an exception. Good quality with an excellent service. It’s pricey but don’t hesitate to try. Recommended to book it in advance. I like to order the fried beancurd sheet (油條) and put it in Mala soup until it has assorted the soup but still crunchy, and then eat it! Another dish I like from this shop is duck blood, and guess what? It's limitless! Meat is good, and so are meatballs. My other favorite is the plum juice.

A renowned spicy hot pot restaurant in Taiwan, originally from Taichung. The quality of food is pretty nice and the attentive services by its staff. Easy to order food from an iPad, and so convenient to order more food when needed. Spicy hot pot comes with unlimited supply of duck blood stew as well as tofu. The pickled cabbage hot pot also has unlimited supply of cabbage. The staff came to add more duck blood stew and tofu to the broth quite frequently! Overall, it’s such a great hot pot restaurant in Taipei.
