Ruifang District, New Taipei City｜九份老麵店 Jiufen Old Noodle Shop

I have eaten here 6 times over the past 15 years whenever I visit Taipei from a child to an adult. The price remains almost unchanged and the noodles are as delicious as ever. Probably not the best beef noodles but I always come back here for the nostalgia and a reliable hot bowl of noodles.

We found this place through a food blog and it didn’t disappoint! It’s a tiny place and really can only seat about 14 people at one time but don’t let that put you off because they are so quick to make the food that we only spend about 15mins there! We had the beef noodle soup and the vegetable noodle soup (a vegetarian option!). The gentleman who was taking orders and making the food knows a bit of English so for my fellow English speaking tourists this is always an added bonus! The food arrived super quick. There’s a condiments table so you can add soy, chilli etc to your taste. The standout of the dish is the incredible noodles and how they are cooked. They were perfect. They were thick and springy. It’s also a wonderfully cheap place to eat. Highly recommend!

Delicious handmade noodles and Jiufen-style broth. If you want to dine, make sure you reserve your order or spot early with the shop owner or you might get stuck in the long line during lunch rush time. The seating area are limited but is enough for you to enjoy the savory noodles. Tourist price affected the portion, but still acceptable since it's the only good beef noodle spot in the Old Street path. Will come back again.
