So happy I tried the tomato based Beef Noodle Soup. The flavour is amazing. Rich and deep flavour with a good dose of tomato. The tendons are very tender. I had the mixture of different cuts for 140 NTD. The owner is very friendly. Highly recommended.

As a recent Taiwan transplant, I’ve been on a quest to find the best beef noodle soup around the Taipei area. Standards are sky high and the competition is fierce, given the thousands of beef noodle soup shops in Taiwan. However, I realized I was in a whole different beef noodle soup league as soon as I walked into Ding Niu Beef Noodle. This quaint restaurant, with its modern, understated decor, is located in a small alleyway a short walk from the Yonghe Metro station. It’s a clean and bright place, a rare gem amongst the usual dim and grimy small restaurants around the neighborhood. Medals for their award-winning beef noodle soup hang on the walls. I ordered the clear beef noodle soup, aka Taiwanese-style beef pho (and just as tasty). It arrived piping hot. You can smell the fresh herbal broth, with subtle hints of ginger, garlic, and spring onion. Pieces of tender, very-meticulously-trimmed beef slices lie inside this translucent soup. After a single sip, you immediately realize that this beef noodle soup was made with extreme care and very high-quality ingredients. It’s the best beef noodle soup I’ve had in Taiwan. Give this unassuming place a try. You’ll thank me later!
