Hualien City, Hualien County｜定置漁場三代目 The Fishery

Ordered the signatures yuzu soup and the XO congnac. Both tasted reasonably light. Just what was needed for a cooling night. I had a free too up for my fish soup and drank all of it. Special shout-out to the one who created the chilli sauce (if it’s created) - it’s really special and every single ingredient within was just to the point 🤩. I think I really like it because there is a hint of sesame oil inside too. Dipped my ramen soup’s fish and fried fried into it too. The fried fish’s flesh Well quite well w the chilli too. The fried fish’s dip was good too - relatively interesting w a refreshing light sourness aftertaste 👍🏻 The rice tea is ok. Thought it’s not bad to wash the food down. If not there is Water free and chilli self-service. Toilet uses sliding door to open. Arrived at 5.40pm and there were already many ppl waiting outside. Queue number all taken before 6pm. Do come before 6pm for queue number in order not to disappoint. Will recommend if you are around in hualien. Q a few buses here from huskies station. Can have the super yummy egg pancake nearby (about 1 min away) while waiting for your turn - if long queue 🤩

Worth the wait (long queue) The fried Qixing Tan fish fillet (190 ntd) was really fresh and compact, with the sweet sour sauce that tastes of plum, yuzu and ketchup. The collagen fish soup ramen (280 ntd) has amazing soup base not too bland or too salty. The Yuzu pepper fish soup ramen (290 ntd) tastes peppery, less of yuzu but tasty nonethelessly. You can also add some of the plum sauce into your soup, it tastes great too. The place is very compact and crowded so you might have to share a table with others, water is also provided at the corner.

Came on a Tuesday early evening and was seated with 20 minutes wait. The food is delicious and well worth the wait! All the main dishes has the fresh seared sashimi instead of the usual chashu (which you really don’t miss with the quality of fish so high). By the time we leave at about 7:20 they are already informing customers some dishes are sold out. The king oyster app has a great texture and sourness. Mahi-mahi seafood rice is light but flavourful and soul warming. The clam tastes fresh but is unfortunately sandy. Be careful when pouring the broth as the lid is not secured. Fish miso noodle broth is a bit on the sweeter side than savoury.
