You come here for the vegetables and tea. It’s all organic, from his garden, and the star is veggies. It’s a simple meal, but don’t get fooled by it. The flavor and the freshness of the veggies make this an outstanding meal. We loved it. You can’t get this farm-to-table meal anywhere in any city and at this price point. This is the beauty of dining in smaller towns in Taiwan, you get amazing access to genuine simple tastes that are lost in urban life.

The shabu shabu here is really different. Using home grown veggies, there are no cheapie fillers (fishball, meatballs, beancurd etc) to make up volume. Selection of chicken, pork, beef & lamb plus some seafood too. There are different lettuces, greens, beans and peas all personally grown by the boss man himself. In my delight, I forgot to take photos of the meat platters...and the dipping sauce! The secret recipe of the sauce is of some 20 different spices and you can ask for chilli sauce if you like it hot. Oh yes, expensive Mexican red chillies ground to a fine paste...a little is enough to send you to heaven! Cactus are the boss's favourite and there is a delightful collection in front of the restaurant. Definitely a place for returns. If you visit during the day, you can request to visit the vegetable garden too. Definitely a place for returns!

Easily the best Shabu Shabu in Taiwan!! My every visit to Sun Moon Lake must be accompanied by a visit to this local restaurant. This is where the locals come to eat. The owner uses only organic home grown vegetables freshly picked from his own farm. The meat are all so fresh and delicious! U can pick from beef, pork, chicken, mutton, seafood. At 300NT for a full set, u can't find a better more satisfying deal in Sun Moon Lake (Living Basin) area.
