I initially chose this place because it's a prime location as a base to climb Mt. Dongpu, see plum blossoms and go to hot springs. But as it turned out, the warmth of the people here and how enjoyable they made the stay, ranks among the top attraction of this trip. The rooms are basic but being here truly immersed us in the fascinating culture of the Bunan people. There is so much to love in this house. Many things from the walls to the stone tiled floor, to the kitchen island and the fireplace, were beautifully handmade with the mountain stones. One of the highlights was the local dinner cooked by the host's mum. It was truly a feast! That soup especially was a warm hug for the soul after a tiring day. We tasted many delicious vegetables that were unknown to us. The best part is, when we asked about it we were given a tour of their garden teaching us how to identify them. There's also some great tasting hand poured drip coffee for breakfast if you want it, and the Earl Grey milk tea they give for breakfast is the bomb. We were so reluctant to leave that our departure was pushed back by 3 hours, touring the place and chatting with them. My mum purchased a handmade stone clock. Don't hesitate to stay here, you will love it.
