why do Taiwanese seek out hotpot midst a hot (nearly) midsummer's night & (nearly) every night in winter ? what is the perennial fascination with boiled stuff assembled raw & cooked at table in front of you ? no other cuisine is cooked by you in front of you except Korean & Japanese, right ? after tonight i can tell you why -- it is 1 of the quintessential Taiwanese things to do cause it's ingrained it's part of fun night every-course meal out the whole family neglects to dress up for family after family little kids force fed savoury whilst crying : enough ! -- no more ! defending their right to dessert first bigger kids (called adults) get right to dessert (probably something psychological -- a residual grudge from childhood 😂🤣) saw a fam of 4 : dad -- tattooed on left hand ✋ a star 🌟 -- goes right for the soft serve🍦 while mom grabs a coffee ☕ i ask to be seated next to the frayed solo mom at her wit's end with the toddler on the highchair -- cause i like the window seat & 🤣 the automatic door that keeps sliding past my table as fam after fam enter like hotpot is some sorta mini-urban-Disneyland -- an oasis -- a joyful place that everyone loves toddler in highchair robed in ankle-length purple Elsa Frozen shirt & a cream cardigan stands & cry & bangs the ladle against her prison as if she were a Revolutionary demanding Justice -- she cries out : Mom ! the way the French cried out : Bourgeois ! she is here, she is hot -- not for pot -- not for the cauldron of boiling meats veggies tofu skins & frozen fish & tiny hot dog & crab stick she is here for the ice cream the DuLaoYaY -- the McDaddy of Taiwanese 🍨 here in mint & chocolate & something & one that's empty bet she's here for chocolate 🍫 give me my ice cream woman ! it is an epic battle between the valiant & noble against the tyrant who, counter to Marie Antoinette, says : Let Elsa eat rice 🍚 mom points to older sister's bowl -- empty tells older sister (maybe 4) to not eat the second scoop bottom of cup -- meant for mom (mom is trying to limit sugar but mom -- come on) as mom goes from phone to bowl (for toddler) older sis has polished off all the ice cream & mom grieves this trespass a split meat ball lies on the doormat like an unexploded cannon ball a shot out of toddler's bowl or a roll out of older sis's i'd go to hotpot just to witness Kings & Queens in 70s velour shorts & everyone seemingly just walked there from their living room -- as they were & into Taiwan's out-of-home Every Family's Buffet Dining Hall & Princesses waiting fighting for Dessert -- their just desserts -- Now ! staff were incredible -- the hustle ! i asked 🐖 or 🐄 if beef it was backside bacon so i went 🐖 i asked for spicy -- so got Szechuan & of course all veggies & fish & clam come complementary with every pot higher-end just means seafood or more meats unlimited rice, vermicelli, instant noodle coffee juice, pop, soft serve & scoop ice cream & even popcorn 🍿 what i love is the condiments stand of chopped garlic, scallions & chilies & the dark mound of oily pasty sauce at far-left end is the nectar the elixir -- not to be drunk -- but dipped in the oyster sauce i made 4 batches of dipping sauce piled high at this price range the scoop ice cream is either meiji or dulaoyay in my opinion dulaoyay is a bit better looking through other reviews it's obvious why people love hotpot it feels like home you get up -- go get more get pop from the fridge serve yourself -- eat till you're full people roaming around it's very communal -- kinda like you're at a party but i have to say : i bet the main reason hotpot is a mainstay in a Family Dinner night out is because Elsa Frozen Toddler Highchair Princess will have unresolved psychological issues from being denied ice cream 🍨 & she will return one day with her own kids & before the raw pot even arrives she'll head to dutiful dulaoyay & give herself 2 scoops of 🍫 & look victorious & happy -- like the tall dad with star 🌟 on hand ✋ tattoo this is what hotpot night 🍲 really is therapy tMac 🍚 🦖

I enjoyed the food and service at 6owl door Keelung Shenxi Branch (六鴞門基隆深溪店 / liu xiao men ji long shen xi dian), which is a buffet-style hot pot restaurant. The hot pot was normal and decent, with a good selection of ingredients and sauces. The price was also reasonable, only about 200 NTD per person. The best part was that they offered free refills of Duroyal ice cream and popcorn, which were both delicious and satisfying. The popcorn was especially good, better than the ones at the cinemas. The restaurant also had no limit time for eating, so I could eat at my own pace. The only drawback was that they did not accept reservations, so I had to wait in line for a table. However, I think this place is a great deal if you want to have a fun and filling meal. note: dine in is more worthy

This is probably one of the best cheap hot pot store you can find in Taiwan, it's serves good cheap hot pot and it's very filling. Especially,the milk cheese hot pot,which is probably the best ones. I would recommend this for people who want to try hot pot for the first time.
