Lingya District, Kaohsiung City｜Taihodien Restaurant

I was invited here by my family here in Taiwan. It's been a long time since I've visited a hotpot place but the ambience and atmosphere was very nice. I can't say if their selection was vast or limiting but from the variety of things that I ate it was certainly not lacking in selection. They had a selection of the usual vinegar, spice oil, or soy sauce and various condiments to pair with the sauces. It is not crazy selection of oils and whatnot as I think most of those places are probably trying to mask flavors rather than to enhance it. However, that's my personal opinion so your mileage may vary if you're not into the traditional hot pot style. For those with accessibility needs, while the front door has a small lip, most wheel hairs (motorized or not) should be able to clear it. My cousin has a motorized wheelchair and she was able to clear it just fine. The tables we sat at also was very fitting for her, which again, your mileage may vary depending on your situation. Overall, I had a great time. It was a bit chilly though it could have been me sitting underneath a duct but hey leave it to the guy eating hot pot but still get chilly. 🤣

The spicy soup is full of flavor. We ordered the spicy soup and it was really spicy and fragrant. My friends who dare not eat spicy food praised the soup. It is true that the soup base of the spicy hotpot is important. The meat is fresh and the texture is sweet. The beef is simmered for a few seconds and is tender and refreshing. The seats are comfortable, and there is little interference with your neighbors. The dining environment is clean, and the condiment area is tidied up immediately to keep the countertops clean. The service staff are attentive enough. If the soup is almost half full, they will ask if they need to add more soup. Even if a friend drops his chopsticks on the ground, he will call the service staff. Unexpectedly, he will hand over a brand new pair of chopsticks when he comes over. People are surprised! The service spirit is in place. Although it is not a hot pot restaurant unique to the south, it is a hot pot restaurant that foreign friends will actively recommend when they come to Kaohsiung in this cold weather. The price is affordable. Although it mainly serves a la carte dishes, the overall meal is very satisfying and the price is reasonable. It’s not too high!

The ingredients are exquisite and delicious, the soup is rich and delicious, and the service attitude is excellent. I highly recommend it.
