Ren’ai District, Keelung City｜花枝焿·大麵炒

My favourite street food in this day/night market! The huazhi geng (squid paste soup) was absolutely delicious. Lightly boiled squid wrapped in fish paste (I presume) perfectly echoed Keelung's landscape being a coastal city with tons of fresh seafood coming in every morning. The soup needed little seasoning except white pepper to help it shine. That said, the chefs can be a little ill-tempered at times. Though I suppose that comes with cooking in front of two boiling pots the whole day.

Pleasantly surprised how something looks so simple can be so delicious! This is something I’d crave often! Absolutely amazing! The cuttlefish thick soup is also great, but the noodle, damn! They sure know what they are doing! Strongly recommended to order both as a set! Love, love, love! Did I mention the owners are also super sweet!! I’ll be back when I’m in town next time!

This is a must have every time we visit this market. Looks simple, but very tasty, the dry noodles were full of flavors, including lots of garlic, and chewy. The calamari soup was clear, unlike many others that tend to add lots of cornstarch and soy sauce, it was a bit sweet, tasty and not overpowering the calamari. The calamari was very lightly fried and crispy, fresh. Great simple food!
