West Central District, Tainan City｜茂雄蝦仁肉圓（原 沙卡里巴）

As someone eating Tainan street food growing up , this is literally my favorite in Tainan (not exaggerating). So, what is shrimp 肉圓？ it a steamed rice meat ball with a gooey skin made from rice and is filled with shrimps and meat. Shrimp 肉圓 can only be found in Tainan. The 肉圓 in northern Taiwan are fried and bigger. Back to the topic, my favorite part about this food stand is its sauce - they make their own soy sauce using shrimps. The filling is vey “shrimpy” too. The shrimps are smaller than normal shrimps but it’s bc they’re using a specific type of shrimp. The place is hole-in-the-wall but my family has been dining here for years. If you’re looking for something authentic, this is your gem.
