Wanhua District, Taipei City｜Taiho Traditional Biscuit

i have been buying from this shop more than 16 years ago when they were an old-school bakery along Chengdu Road. Nothing fancy but the pineapple cakes were delicious and fresh as they kitchen is just upstairs. I like that it did not sit on the shelf with lots of perservatives like a lot of others, when I bring friends over, they will happily let them sample, they even deliver to my friend's hotel when we bought a lot. The packing is very presentable as a gift and sturdy for shipping. I enjoyed talking to the old lady boss when she was the only person managing the shop. After they renovated and employed young sales people, they are quite annoyingly pushy.

Have tried from many brands but Their Tai Yang Biscuit is honestly the best. The pastry is flaky, buttery and the filling not too sweet either. The milky flavour wasn’t too over powering and definitely not too dry too. It’s definitely better than the more popular ones.

Usually not a fan of buying traditional snacks as souvenirs. However, this shop has a fabulous variety of Pineapple tarts and Tai Yang Biscuits. A short 3min walk from Ximending.
