Setagaya City, Tokyo, Japan｜Teruya

An excellent place for izakaya. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. They were happy to give me recommendations on what to eat and which drinks would work best with the food. A proper local joint however they know enough English to get by and they have an English menu.

I can only recommend to visit and enjoy this place. Teruya is full of locals (people mostly live in Shimokitazawa area and go there after their working day), who are very nice, chatty and always keen to engage conversation, whether you speak Japanese or no. Jun, the owner, is a very nice person, he makes everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible. The food is great, with a good variety of products to fit all the tastes, and you can drink good nihonshu too. If you go to Shimokitazawa area, take the time to enjoy this izakaya on the evening, you'll love it !

One of the highlights of our trip. Went here for dinner and all the food was amazing. The staff was so kind and we were able to chat with some locals which was very nice. They also had an English menu which was very helpful. Couldn’t recommend highly enough! I’d give 10 stars if I could :)
