I would highly recommend Maruya to anyone wanting authentic and affordable Japanese food. Our group of 4 went on a Monday night unsure of what to expect. It's a traditional, family run restaurant in a laneway off the beaten track (shoes off, tatami seating). We were greeted by Obachan in Japanese with a friendly smile and ordered using google translate. Our group shared tempura vegetables and fish, sake, sashimi, rice, miso and matcha - all of which were beautifully fresh, delicious, and totalled only JPY 17,800. Do yourself a favour while supporting this delightful family 👏

One of the absolute best restaurants in Shibuya. Run by a lovely couple, they serve amazing food and have a good selection of Nihonshu (Sake). They specialise in sardines and I highly recommend getting the Kaori-Age.

Great Izakaya place. Fresh fish and great people
