More Comments at Google MapI found Tofu Dining Ao (とうふ 蒼) by accident. It was not easy to see or find this place as the front of the restaurant had very limited exposure. It looked like this was where the locals go. Open the front door, then you see very narrow and steep stairways down, leading you to a cosy small dining area. We were ushered to a table and ordered a beer and sake straightaway. Browsing through the menu, wondering what to order, I peeped the ladies next to us what they were eating. My wife said "I want that one, pointing to a dish one of the ladies were having. Easy. I ordered a fish dish (たたき, Tataki) with tofu-don. My wife (an Australian) said "my dish was homey, tasty and different in a good way. It was a very nice one for a cold day". It was in February. My dish was fresh, tasty and interesting. The tofu was certainly the main player of the dishes. This place, I think, maybe influenced by the Okinawa cuisine. If we have another chance to visit this place, we certainly do. Hope Tofu Dining Ao will be there for us for the next time. Bob's your uncle.
Wow, this place is great. On short notice we were looking for a tofu place near omotesando. After some searching we found this place. The place is very nice and cozy despite being in a basement. There was no one there when we arrived, but we decided to try anyways. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and they were all really good. Especially the small cold tofu bowls with different toppings were amazing. For anyone looking for a nice tofu restaurant I can definitely recommend this place!
I am sure that even those people who are not big fans of tofu would love this restaurant. I came for dinner and everything I ordered was delicious. To drink I has a Framboise And Soy milk shake, which was terrific! As for the food the dishes I liked the most were the dashimaki tamago (rolled Japanese style omelette) and fresh tofu with natto, okra and kimchi. But, honestly, everything was delicious. From the appetisers to the dessert. They have a few vegetarian options available. Prices are also good, it’s not expensive considering taste and quality.
