Amazing food, with top quality fish cooked and prepared in a traditional way with a few modern twists. Excellent, attentive staff and a buzzy atmosphere. The sashimi plate was a win, and the house wine was surprisingly serviceable. It's almost always busy, so reservations are a must, and needs to be by phone: there's no online booking. No English menu, so kanji reading is most useful.

If you're looking for a classic izakaya that serves high quality plates, and that has attentive and friendly staff, go here. The namazakana was fresh. The gari was fresh. Hell even the shiso (leaf) was the best dam shiso I've ever had. I ended up ordering 7230 yen worth of food. It was completely worth it. When you're there, ask for Abe. He lived in Vancouver for a few years and can help with your order. The place isn't fancy, but imo that's exactly what you'd want from a solid izakaya.
