More Comments at Google MapI was getting hangry because for some reason, a lot of restaurants in Japan closes at 830pm or if they opened till 11pm, they’d stop people from queueing at 8pm / 9pm just cause the queue was too long (you typically have to queue 1-2hrs) 😵💫 this restaurant was on my list but was also my 3rd and last chance because i already got turned away twice before here. Was half expecting to end my day with McDonald’s when I realised there was only 1 person in queue here!!! Located in Shinbashi, this place is particularly busy at night as it’s filled with salarymen catching a bite or 2 along with some drinks. Happened to witness a drunk guy crashing into another 3 guys, guess someone had a great night 😂 with that, you can probably tell this is a pretty causal and laid back place, where smoking is allowed indoors as well so be prepared. Robata is a style of traditional hearthside cooking, where the chef works on his wide charcoal grill and is surrounded by boxes of ingredients and plates for serving. We are seated around a counter on the other side of that fortress, shouting our orders across to him (or giving them to the hostess). Once the chef plates up your dish, he’ll hand it across the counter to you, perched on the end of a long wooden paddle. The food here costs as little as 300 yen, serving up things like shrimps, fish, chicken ball, chicken and various vegetables so you’d be spoiled for choice. Ordered a bunch of stuff and these smokey, grilled pieces were worth every penny ✨
Such an amazing experience! Definitely a must. They have English menus, and are friendly to tourists. If you can sit at the grill, it's amazing to watch them cooking the food.
One of the coolest atmospheres in Tokyo. The food is good, but it's the customers that make it great. I've made so many friends with strangers here.
