Very nice place if you’re looking for a no-frills, affordable yet delicious local comfort food. Some of the worthy mentions are the karaage (fried chicken - very tasty!), dumplings, fresh tuna, fresh kanpachi (amberjack), tofu, crispy ham and cheese, and the meat-wrapped asparagus! Went there with friends for dinner and although there were a lot of customers, it didn’t feel rowdy and noisy. The ambience was in fact surprisingly comfortable and pleasant - something nice considering it’s an Izakaya (Japanese drinking place). The price was also very affordable. Our server Leo, made us feel at home and didn’t hesitate to explain if there’s anything in the menu we have questions about. Highly recommend this place! Will definitely be back next time.

This is my new favorite izakaya in Monnaka! The staff are welcoming towards foreigners and have an English menu option. I highly recommend the cream of crab croquette and egg dish with spicy cod roe. I don’t drink alcohol, but my friends enjoyed the variety of drink options including an alcoholic version of a hojicha latte. Order the churros early because they sell out (I still haven’t tried them). It’s easy to reserve a table online, so be sure to make a reservation on weekends! I’ll be back soon:) (For foreigners who don’t like eating rare parts, look up the words of the meat skewers in Japanese ahead of time because…there are some interesting options haha)
