We were looking for an early morning breakfast place before watching a sumo practice nearby. We saw this place looking cheery and open but although the owner (we think) was inside, we came to understand that they weren’t open until 10 am. We had walked a few blocks away, still when we saw the owner riding his bike toward us. He stopped and we understood him to say (we speak no Japanese) that we should come back to the restaurant and he would make us ramen! Sadly, had to get on to our appointment at the sumo stable but we felt bad to not accept his hospitality, so after the sumo practice we went back and had a delicious lunch of ramen! Lovely owners, friendly, kind and generous.

We visited by chance and had wonderful tsukemen and niku udon. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. We will surely visit again.

My friend and I dropped in here after an afternoon by the river to get some dinner, and walked into one of the most warm and welcoming communities we've ever experienced. Our Japanese is not great and we can only speak in broken sentences with poor grammar, but the owners and patrons were all extremely welcoming and talking with us despite our weak Japanese. Many of the people there lived nearby and were friends of the owner, so you could feel the warmth in the conversation. We returned a few weeks later and had just as good an experience the second time. Highly recommended if you want to go somewhere that you can feel among friends. The food is great and the drinks flow freely.
