Kyoto, Japan｜Himitsu-kichi Komukomu-Sakaba

This place is fantastic, a must visit for a chill delicious evening in Kyoto. We tried seven different plates and four drinks and they were all delicious. Highly recommend the duck, the smoked variety was so delicious we had to order the other duck option on the menu and holy moly it was fantastic. Seriously, not traditional fare, but an incredible concept and well executed! We were the only ones in there and the staff was extremely helpful and responsive. Also, the bathhouse is beautiful. Highly recommend, I'm upset we don't live closer to visit this on a regular basis!

Absolutely fantastic! I cannot recommend this place enough for a quiet evening filled with flavor. The space is so neat and quirky, and the staff were nice and helpful. The drink menu caters a younger vibe, with a lot of sweet offerings that are all delicious. We tried: -cream soda with liquor -two different sours -strawberry liquor -four of the five sakes on the menu The food is small plates and everything we had was phenomenal. We tried: -Smoked black tea duck -scallop changa and cream cheese -lobster tomato croquette -cheese ham cutlet -chicken skin dumplings -lemon fried chicken -kujo-yu dumplings If you’re in the neighborhood, give it a try you’ll be sure to leave smiling.

I'm so glad we found this place. The plates are small, so my partner and I tried about 7 different dishes and 4 drinks. They were all delicious and they felt like they had thought and care put into them. The atmosphere is also unlike anything I've experienced and it was so cool. We ate dinner in a bathtub, the music was chill, and the 2 guys working there were very friendly. If I lived nearby I would absolutely come back. Try the smoked duck! It was incredible.
