Uji, Kyoto, Japan｜Ujiso Cocoro

Cocoro is located in Uji— and is a nice dinner place to visit after tea shopping. We tried the cod roe balls, yams, egg omelette, squid, salmon scallop pasta, and steak. Cod roe balls were the highlight: a nice crunchy outside filled with salty savoury roe. Yams had a nice marinade and crunch. Egg omelette was fluffy and flavourful. Pasta had a nice sauce. The steak is a fun cook it yourself experience. Make sure to flip the steak quickly: it’s small cuts and grills fast.

Lovely, lovely staff! Good selection of drinks and food. Very reasonable prices too! They have vegetarian options as well which was really nice.

We were looking for food around Uji and all the restaurants around were closed. We walked in, and pleasantly surprised. By far, the most amount of fresh veggies we’ve had on our trip in Japan. And the food was great
