Kyoto, Japan｜Shinme

Love this place, from my very first visit to Kyoto it has become a tradition every time we are in Japan. Great food, the roast beef is to die for! Not very many know about this place as it doesn’t market itself much, but it’s definitely a hidden gem.

One of the best Izakayas on this planet. Super tasty, thoughtful recommendations and great people. Could not recommend more highly! Will be back again My husband is Japanese and enjoys recommendations - which is great. I’m though, vegetarian and I guess a little more fussy - this spot is perfect for both of us. 10/10 Book ahead of time

Delicious izakaya. There is a menu with pictures that is in English as well as Japanese. The chef was very kind and the restaurant was very welcoming to us and our 3 year old. Turtle stew was delicious as was the toro, unagi, tempura, whale bacon, and everything else we tried. Went there twice in the week we were in Kyoto and both times it was mostly filled with Japanese guests rather than tourists. Would highly recommend for a traditional izakaya experience.
