京都市下京区 Kyoto, Japan｜Teppan to o sake Sōya

We stumbled into this place at 1:30am thanks to a local we befriended at a nearby bar. By far one of the best meals we had in Japan. I would came back here every single time I’m in Kyoto!

Fabulous, fun dinner. Great atmosphere. Great music. Lively, helpful staff. And truly delicious food. We ordered the spring vegetables. All delicious- especially the raw eggplant (somehow sweet and savory) and the lotus root. The stuffed mushrooms were terrific. Doesn’t seem like they take reservations. They did have an English menu but the specials were all in Japanese. Would love to visit again.

Great atmosphere with unique and excellent food. Shame they have only one (mediocre) desert.
