Kyoto, Japan｜Garyu Teppan Dining

Good food, cozy place, friendly owner. English menu available. I've been there multiple times and I hope to eat there again next time I'm in Japan.

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're staying in Kyoto I highly recommend visiting this place. A pearl of Kyoto's night scene. Everything about this place was S tier. Sweet/friendly staff, english menu, clean bathroom, friendly patrons, and of course delicious food, delicious drinks! Smoking is allowed inside but there's a vent on the ceiling that sucks up all foul aromas very well, barely smells of smoke even with multiple patrons lighting cigarettes. I came back 3 nights in a row because I simply couldn't get enough of this place. Ended up talking past closing hours with the staff all 3 nights because we enjoyed each other's company. Crisp and wonderful Japanese Whiskeys. Sweet and light Japanese Plum Wines and other Fruit Wines available. Shochu cocktails, hot or cold Sake, full-bodied and rich bottled or draft beers and even some stuff that isn't on the menu is available should you know how to ask for it politely. The Wagyu Steak was melt in your mouth delicious and so was the Japanese Plum flavored Pork Steak! They had fried rice which was nicely seasoned and comes with your choice of protein (seafood or wagyu beef). Sashimi served here was perfect and many other seafood options like the Scallops with garlic and butter sauce or the grilled shrimp. I cannot recommend this place enough. Truly made my night, 3 nights in a row. Lovely experience. Thank you so much, Daisuke!! My only regret is not taking more photos to share with you all of this place. But I was simply enjoying myself too much and honestly forgot to do so. Here's the few I took. But they really don't do this place Justice.

Great little local restaurant- really welcoming and they have an English menu!! Great food and cocktails. Well worth a visit if you're in the area- doesn't look much from the outside but great decor hidden inside and really friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
