I enjoy my time here, the food are great. Once the chief knew I’m tourist, he made Omakase just for me, it’s really sweet. Recommend to go.

I am a foreigner, even worse, a tourist, but here's my perspective anyway: 1) know a little Japanese before you go, or bring a translator. They worked so hard to accommodate me and it made me feel bad (although very grateful) However.. if you don't... Order by pointing at the bowls.. and 2-3/person is a lot!! 2) the food was delicious, I'm not sure I'm a fan of Japanese snails (bigger and chewier than french ones) but the lotus root, pork, edamame, and fried .. what I think was shishito..were amazing. 3) bring a friend, sitting alone at izakaya is not what it's meant for.. you need someone to chat with. Great food, amazing staff/owner/chef, great atmosphere, great price.

It's right next to Kitaoji Station. The stairs are a little steep to go down to the basement. An izakaya with a strong Showa feel. The main menu is the handmade obanzai displayed on the counter. If it were in my neighborhood, I'd probably stop by at least twice a week. All the dishes were very delicious.
