More Comments at Google MapI had seen this shop featured in a magazine before and thought it looked good. I had made a reservation three years ago in the winter, but my trip to Kyoto was canceled due to snow and I had to cancel. My wish came true on this visit. At first glance, it seemed like an ordinary izakaya, but gradually I realized that it was much more than just an ordinary bar. There was no sense that the sake was limited to local sake from Kyoto. Are there not many types of alcohol? That's what I was thinking, and on the back I saw a lineup of rare shochu. The main thing might be shochu... It seems that fish dishes are on sale, so I ordered a platter for one person. I was surprised that they actually served each piece one by one. The store clerk explained to me what kind of fish it was. Sorry for not listening! A mix of fresh, kombu-jime, and grilled items look and taste amazing. Recommended items are marked on the menu, making it easy to choose. Meat and vegetable dishes other than fish are also great. It doesn't seem appropriate to call it an izakaya. A small restaurant? No, I felt it was at a Japanese restaurant level. From appetizers with freshly fried fish, assorted sashimi, fried baby fish, stewed beef tendons, salads, and tempura of young sweetfish, you won't be disappointed. What I found most delicious was the Kyoto chicken and Kujo green onion grilled with Japanese pepper. There are many ways to make sansho work. Probably, in addition to powdered sansho and real sansho, it also contains parts of the sprouts. Although it looks like a Western-style creative dish, It's a truly Japanese-style dish. Stunning! That's all I could say. By the way, I chose a rare yam for shochu. It was a light and easy-to-drink shochu (^^). I was a little worried because there were no prices on the menu for anything other than drinks, but my fears turned out to be unfounded. If it's that delicious with that kind of content, it's probably a bargain price. This will be my go-to shop in Kyoto!
The owner, who loves fishing, uses fresh local fish that he has caught and processed using the Tsumoto method. Fishing friends gather together and bring in their catch, so you can enjoy seasonal fish each season. Don't underestimate meat dishes either. This is a good purchasing route because of the trust. And yet it's cheap! Recommended for people who are looking for satisfaction on a plate at a low price, regardless of the restaurant or seat.
You can't eat at this price in Gion. Fish often come out that the owner has caught himself. For now, I always eat mackerel sushi and escargot style.
