Kyoto, Japan｜Kushihachi

Tried their Skewers Set - assorted 30 fried & 10 grilled skewers (@¥3,680) first and then ordered those that we like as individual skewers and others (see attached menu). Actually five of us loved most of the individual skewers on the menu and my personal favourites are Asparagus covered with cheese & uncured ham, mini green peppers, chicken breast fillet with cod roe. We enjoyed very much together with Asahi beer. Ended with Fried Ice Cream. Total bill: ¥10,485.

First night in Kyoto and may have peaked too soon, cuisine-wise. Recommended by locals as great food, superb service, fun crowd. All true. Be early, though as crowds a cert most nights.

We can’t make a telephone reservation. It is full around 7 pm on holidays. I waited about 20 minutes then I sat on the first floor counter seat. All skewers go well with beer! I recommend KONJAC (Devil's Tongue:), crab claws, escargot garlic butter, etc. Wow, everything is so delicious. Actually, the yakitori (salt) here is also delicious, and the dessert matcha ice cream is too rich and surprising!
