Everything was very tasty but the portions are pretty big. I’d recommend asking for smaller portions if you want to try everything on the menu which we tried to do and failed. Lol

Very glad to have discovered this hidden local gem on the 2nd floor of an unassuming place. Everything here was unexpectedly delicious! If you don't speak Japanese, just point to what you want, and you can also order rice. Some of my favourites here were the wasabi flavoured cold-dish vegetables, the braised fish (karei), egg, and daikon.

We dropped in here without knowing what to expect - and had a brilliant time! The food is home-style cooking and tastes amazing, you simply choose from the dishes in front of you, and the master chef will prepare it for you and present it on his beautiful handmade pottery. We had a great evening talking to the chef, the host and the other patrons. This is a unique Nara experience that made us feel at home, well worth checking out! It's on level 2 above a carpark so not easily found from street level...
