What a great night! It just so happens that the owner’s daughter, who speaks really good English, is visiting from LA. She patiently translated everything to the master and also tried to answer our questions to the best of her ability. The master knew so much about sake, we learned a lot! We also got to pick our own sake glasses to drink with. While we were there, yummy (and free) small snacks kept coming out from the kitchen.. Lastly, we met a regular there who kept letting us try his sake!!! It’s always a great time talking to the regulars at an izakaya. Highly recommend the place. All our experiences with the people aside, the food was also really great. We had three kinds of sashimi, vegetable tempura, and fried oysters. Everything was worth trying! I’ll be sure to visit Kamui again if I come back to Kyoto.

Writing the review as we speak. Izakaya that’s authentic - TV playing while the chef is cutting up some nice dishes - but, it welcomes foreigners with a smile. Food quality is amazing for what you pay. On the list!

Food is super good. We had fresh oysters and many other dishes. Sakes are also a plenty. Value for money.
