Kyoto, Japan｜Kyoto Kaiseki Yakiniku (BBQ) HIRO Gion Yamana-an

Oh wow. This was something different. A Kaiseki revolving around beef : both raw and grilled, and coming from a variety of cuts. Everything was extremely well prepared and deliciously succulent. Absolutely loved it ; my only recommendation is : indulge yourself, this is not your everyday restaurant, this is an experience. Reservations mandatory.

We wandered in here looking for dinner on a Saturday night - we didn't have a reservation but got lucky as the host consulted with his colleagues and they agreed to put the four of us into a big eight person room (we got lucky, would suggest you make a reservation in advance!!). The staff were very friendly and despite the language barrier, they could speak enough English to tell us how to cook the meat. There were three meal courses you could order, we went with the most expensive one (20,000 yen per two people) and it was totally worth it! The best meat we've ever had! Would definitely want to come back in the future.

Fantastic food, best meal we had in Kyoto. Very friendly staff, very accommodating for a walk in of 3. Very good atmosphere, but also pricy. Well worth the price, however. The beef tartare was a religious experience
