Kyoto, Japan｜Hanasaki

Lucky just to walk in for lunch in a private room. Service was as expected, polite, prompt & attentive. Atmosphere and dishes five stars. Could not ask for a much better local & ‘authentic’ (or close to) in the Gion, Kyoto area.

At the price of 6600 yen per person (service fee included), this was the perfect affordable lunch kaiseki experience for a first timer! We were seated in a private room and each dish was explained by a staff member wearing kimono in english.

Michelin-grade experience and well-worth the price. There were some dishes that really wowed me, like the clam, which had a brilliantly crunchy texture. The beef as well was literally exploding with juice once you bite into it, even though it just looked like an ordinary piece of meat.
