Kyoto, Japan｜Yukou

We were hungry and it was late. Amazing how many local restaurants are listed in Google with wrong opening hours. We tried at least 5 near Yukou and it was only about 9:40 pm. The answer was always the same: sorry we are closed. But not Yukou! Although the shop is very small, the work efficient. There was a queue outside with about 10 people who all must have had the same problem as we did. But our oder was taken by one of the staff as we waited and once a seat was free the next people moved in. Table was quickly set. The Ramen were tasty same as some of the side dishes we tried. Price-Value and really open till midnight! Clearly a recommendation for any hungry late runner.

Best ramen that you should try in Kyoto. The clam soup base was yummy. Homemade Char siu and a thick cut of pork are added delightful richness to the ramen. You can choose either a thick cut of pork or a thin cut of pork and boiled eggs. No need to queue the line :))

The shoyu ramen was nice with very well done noodles that were chewy with good texture. The thick cut char siu was very soft and falls apart easily in the mouth with a mildly peppery taste. There were no overpowering flavours competing for attention and the noodles went down well.
