Today I went out to eat with my senior from the karate club from university. I wanted to eat authentic kushikatsu, so I visited the most famous kushikatsu restaurant in the area, located a 1-minute walk from Tsukamoto Station, one stop from Osaka Station. I came to the store around 6:30pm on a weekday, and it was already nearly full, giving me the feeling that it was going to be a busy store. Despite the busy schedule, the staff, who appeared to be the store manager, were very friendly and gave me a good impression of everyone being full of energy. This lively atmosphere and the feel of a good old bar is something that is rare among restaurants in Japan these days. It's conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from Tsukamoto Station, and you can get kushikatsu for as little as 90 yen per piece, making it a great value. The crispy batter is made with a special healthy oil, and it's not heavy at all, so you can have as many as you like. The service is quick and the taste is excellent. The craftsmanship unique to a kushikatsu specialty store shines through. The second floor also has one of the largest private banquet rooms in Tsukamoto, and during the banquet season, it is probably used by various companies for year-end parties and welcome/farewell parties. Not only did they have a rich lineup of over 40 types of kushikatsu, but they also had a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. The best value for money plain sour 290 yen Highball 290 yen, so cheap! I guess one of the reasons there were so many female customers was because of the Instagram-worthy menu items such as Lemon Tower. Two big guys from the karate club eat and drink a lot and the bill for each person is less than 3,000 yen. Too expensive. I feel that this high level of satisfaction is the reason why this restaurant is so popular. Overall I was very satisfied! Alcohol is cheap, there are various dishes and there are plenty of cheap ones, so you can do it cheaply. If you eat a lot of meat, you'll go there, but it's still cheap. The taste is so-so, but it's enough for an izakaya. However, I couldn't get a glass that didn't contain 1 go even though sake was listed as 1 go.
